O3Connect: A Harmonious Fusion of Craftsmanship and Design

Golden A' Furniture Design Award Winner 2022: A Stool Like No Other

The O3Connect stool is a unique piece of furniture that draws inspiration from the harmonious pattern of circles. The designers, TzuWei Chang, KaiLi Chang and RouChun Wang, have taken this concept and transformed it into a tangible object, using the natural materials of wood and leather. The result is a stool that is not only comfortable and warm, but also visually appealing with its interlocking three circular curvature shape.

The stool's unique properties lie in its construction. Using natural wood bending and multi-layer pressurized shaping technology, the designers have showcased the elasticity and toughness of natural materials. The interlocking three circular curvature is formed by laminated wood bending into shape, covered with high-quality hand-stitched leather. This creates a beautiful hollow supporting structure that is both solid and sturdy.

The realization of this design was achieved through a meticulous process. Three pieces of wood were cut out as the basic type, with wood pressurized gluing technology used to increase the density of bendable boards. This transformed the whole structure into a hard, supportive carrier. The final touch was the leather hemming finish, which added a sense of completeness to the design.

The O3Connect stool is not only a piece of furniture, but also a work of art. With its depth of 600mm, width of 600mm, and height of 450mm, it is a perfect addition to any living space. The O3Connect stool was designed and created in Taiwan, with the project starting in August 2021 and completed in February 2022. It made its debut in March and is set to be exhibited in the Young Designers’ Exhibition (Yodex) in the World Trade Center, Nangang exhibition hall, Taipei in June 2022. This design is a testament to the designers' dedication to integrating natural materials into life and transforming traditional craftsmanship into modern craft products.

The O3Connect stool is a winner of the prestigious Golden A' Furniture Design Award in 2022.
